DESOTO, Texas  – The ceremonial ribbon has been cut and the first bite taken! On Tuesday, May 14, DeSoto Area Chamber of Commerce, along with Mayor Rachel Proctor, members of the City Council and other city officials, attended a privately held Ribbon Cutting ceremony for the new Chick-Fil-A here in DeSoto. Owners, James and Susie Pruitt, met each of us with the smiles and warm welcome that has become a hallmark of the company.

Their new limited-time-only menu has been specially crafted for Moms and features innovations such as a Filet topped with Roasted Garlic Shrimp, a filet with Aussie Cab Onion and Seasoning Butter, and a new Mum’s Peach Bellini. The special Mother’s Day offers are available at all participating Outback locations, including those in Cedar Hills and DeSoto, from May 8 to May 12.

The DeSoto High School Speech and Debate Team soared to success at the April 6 Lincoln-Douglas Debate competition, securing a spot in the top six out of 32 participating teams. The team clinched first place in persuasive speaking, and sophomore Jamar Carden placed among the top three speakers out of a total of 30 contestants. Jada’Chris Easter, also a sophomore, placed in the top six in the Lincoln-Douglas Debate out of 36 participants, earning a coveted medal. With their recent success, the DHS Eagles Debate team advanced to the regionals scheduled to be held at Baylor University in Waco, Texas, on April 27.
