Iran Launches Hundreds of Missiles in Attack on Israel

In an unprecedented move that escalates conflict in the Middle East, Iran launched a massive drone attack on Israel, according to Israeli military reports.

In a development likely to escalate tensions in the Middle East, Israel’s military reported on Saturday that Iran had launched dozens of drones aimed at Israel.

However, Israel stated that it would take hours for these drones to reach their intended targets.

According to two security sources in Iraq, numerous drones were observed flying from Iran toward Israel through Iraqi airspace.

Iranian Press TV described these actions as “extensive drone strikes” orchestrated by the Revolutionary Guards.

Initially, a reported 150 missiles were hurled at targets in Israel, according to Iran’s state-run IRNA news agency.

The purported attack follows Iran’s vow of retaliation for what it claims was an Israeli strike on its Damascus consulate on April 1, resulting in the deaths of seven Revolutionary Guards officers, including two senior commanders.

Israel has not officially acknowledged its involvement in the attack.

The United States, through President Joe Biden, has reiterated its support for Israel in the face of potential Iranian aggression.

Biden, having previously cautioned Iran against attacking Israel, has pledged to stand by Israel’s side.

“I’ve just spoken with Prime Minister Netanyahu to reaffirm America’s ironclad commitment to the security of Israel, President Biden said in a statement

“I told him that Israel demonstrated a remarkable capacity to defend against and defeat even unprecedented attacks – sending a clear message to its foes that they cannot effectively threaten the security of Israel.”

The ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas in Gaza, now entering its seventh month, has contributed to heightened tensions in the region.

This tension has extended beyond the Israel-Gaza front, involving Lebanon and Syria, and has resulted in long-range attacks targeting Israeli interests from distant locations like Yemen and Iraq.

SMU Suspends Player After Hit-and-Run Crash

Southern Methodist University has suspended a player who was involved in a hit-and-run collision on March 30 that left at least four people injured.

Theodore “Teddy” Knox, who played football for SMU, surrendered to authorities on Friday following a warrant issued by Dallas police in connection to the hit-and-run.

Knox, who serves as a cornerback for the SMU football team, turned himself to Glenn Heights police on charges including aggravated assault and multiple counts of causing bodily injury due to a crash, according to police.

He was transferred to the regional jail in DeSoto for processing with his bond set at $5,000 for each count.

The surrender of Knox follows the recent turn-in of Rashee Rice, a player for the Kansas City Chiefs, who also faced charges related to the same incident.

Rice, accused of similar offenses, turned himself into Glenn Heights police on Thursday and was subsequently released on $40,000 bond.

In light of the crash, SMU has suspended Knox from the football team pending further investigation and legal proceedings.

According to law enforcement officials, the incident occurred when Knox, driving a Corvette, and Rice, behind the wheel of a Lamborghini, engaged in a high-speed race on North Central Expressway near University Drive in Dallas.

The reckless driving led to both vehicles losing control, with the Lamborghini striking the median and causing a chain-reaction collision as they careened into traffic.

An arrest warrant affidavit revealed that Rice was traveling at a speed of 119 miles per hour less than 5 seconds before the crash, while Knox’s Corvette was clocked at 116 mph before slowing to 91 mph shortly before impact.

Following the collision, Knox, Rice, and their passengers fled the scene without stopping to render aid for injuries or provide necessary information to other drivers, as per police reports.

Although several individuals sustained injuries in the crash, none of the passengers in the speeding vehicles will face charges.

Authorities found a small amount of suspected marijuana in the Lamborghini; however, no charges related to the substance have been announced at this time.

In response to the incident, Rice’s attorney, Texas State Sen. Royce West, stated in a press conference that Rice intends to accept full responsibility for his actions and will work to compensate the victims of the crash.

Knox’s attorney Deandra Grant said in an email Thursday that he has fully cooperated with police.

Dallas Mavericks Surge into NBA Playoffs, Face Clippers in First Round

The Dallas Mavericks are one of the hottest teams heading into the NBA Playoffs, having won 12 of their last 13 games.

Dallas traveled to Miami and defeated the Heat 111-92 on the road with just two games left in the season.

Luka Doncic finished with 29 points, nine rebounds, and nine assists, and Kyrie Irving finished with 25 points, shooting just 62 percent from beyond the ark.

The Mavericks are 50-30 heading into Friday night’s game against the Pistons at American Airlines Center and already know who they will meet in the first round of the NBA Playoffs.

Dallas will take on the Los Angeles Clippers in the first round.

The Mavericks are 1-3 against the Clippers this season, having won their only game back on Nov. 10, 144-126.

Since then, Dallas lost to L.A. the last two times they’ve met.

Dallas missed the playoffs last year; however, in the previous three seasons, the Mavericks have made the postseason.

The Mavericks have not won the NBA title since 2011, when star power forward Dirk Nowitzki was still leading the helm.

But Maverick fans are rejoicing and feel a renewed sense of hope, with the phenom Luka Doncic and star guard Kyrie Irving leading the way.

Dallas has only two games left in the regular season and looks to close out strong.

The Mavericks host the Detroit Pistons on Friday night. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
