Mavericks Seize Momentum, Take Control in Western Conference Semifinals
DALLAS – Just as they did in Game 3 versus the Clippers, the Dallas Mavericks have stolen home-court advantage after defeating the Oklahoma City Thunder at home.
Led by P.J. Washington, the Mavericks dealt a decisive blow to the Thunder defeating OKC 105-101.
Washington erupted for 27 points and six rebounds against the Thunder, while Doncic and Irving combined for 44 points, scoring 22 each.
To go with his 22-point game, Doncic also garnered 15 rebounds, five assists, and two steals. He turned the ball over four times.
Irving went 10-17 from the field and only made two out of six three-pointers, but gathered five rebounds and seven assists.
In the first half, Washington scored 19 points going 3 for 6 from 3-point range and 5 of 12 for the game.
“He’s hooping,” Thunder star Shai Gilgeous-Alexander said to reporters after the game.
“We’ve got to turn that water off if we want to win this series, for sure.”
Gilgeous-Alexander exploded with 31 points, 10 rebounds, and a four-block game but wasn’t enough to lift the Thunder over the Mavericks.
Chet Holmgren finished with 13 points and eight rebounds, while Jalen Williams finished with 16 points and eight assists.
Dallas once again has won a pivotal game that swings home-court advantage back to them and has a chance to take a decisive lead over Oklahoma City.
The Mavericks are back in action for game 4 of the Western Conference Semifinals on Monday night, May 13.
Tip-off is set for 8:30 p.m.
