DeSoto High School Girls Basketball Coach Andrea Robinson Announces Departure
In a move that marks the end of an era for DeSoto girls high school’s basketball program, head coach Andrea Robinson has announced her decision to step down.
Robinson led the Lady Eagles to unprecedented success and will now transition to another opportunity.
Robinson’s legacy at DeSoto is nothing short of remarkable.
Under her leadership, the Lady Eagles soared to consecutive state titles in 2021 and 2022, with four appearances in the state championship game over five years from 2019 to 2023.
Her tenure culminated this year with a regional finalist finish, capping off eight seasons of impressive coaching.
“Working alongside Coach Robinson and her staff over the last few years has been an exciting journey,” said DeSoto ISD Superintendent of Schools Dr. Usamah Rodgers.
“The work she and her staff have done to set a standard of excellence through spirited competition, sportsmanship, and class to create top-tier school and sports experiences and exposure for students and this community has been an incredible addition to the Triple-A experience here in DeSoto ISD.”
Not only did Robinson elevate the DeSoto program to national prominence, but she also garnered numerous accolades throughout her career.
Robinson was named District 11-6A Co-Coach of the Year and secured District Coach of the Year honors.
With a career spanning 583 wins, including state appearances at Fort Worth Dunbar, Cedar Hill, and DeSoto, Robinson’s influence has reverberated throughout Texas basketball.
Robinson also broke barriers, including securing the first girls’ basketball state championship in Fort Worth ISD history and producing Denton Guyer HS’s first Division One girl’s basketball scholar-athlete.
“We wish Coach Robinson the absolute best in her next chapter and deeply appreciate her service to the program, school, and community,” said Rogers.
