Luka Doncic Scores Big as Mavericks Defeat Clippers on the Road

LOS ANGELES – Playing on a sprang knee, Luka Doncic exploded against the Clippers in Los Angeles with 35 points and 10 assists, garnering a double-double as the Mavericks dominated on the road, defeating the Clippers 123-93.

In a pivotal game where either team could win homecourt advantage, the Mavericks fired on all cylinders, giving the Clippers the largest home loss in playoff history.

Playing with a sprung knee, Doncic dominated on the court; however, he went 2-of-8 on 3-point attempts.

But he scored 20 points in the paint, making 12 of his 18 attempts inside the arc.

“Obviously, my shooting is not great. Not even good. Very bad, actually,” Doncic said.

“I was just getting downhill. The first four 3s I took felt great, just didn’t go in, but my whole mentality was just getting downhill.”

Doncic’s co-star, Kyrie Irving, finished the game with just 14 points and 6 assists.

Clippers stars, Paul George and Ivica Zubac each finished with just 15 points, while James Hardin finished with only seven points.

The Clippers were without Kawhi Leonard, LA’s leading scorer.

Leonard has been sidelined with right knee inflammation at the most critical point in the season.

With homecourt advantage, game 6 is headed back to Dallas, where the Mavericks can close out the series.

If necessary, game 7 will be played in Los Angeles.

Dallas Cowboys Re-Sign Ezekiel Elliott, Address Draft Needs

The Dallas Cowboys have re-signed their former first-round draft pick and fan favorite Ezekiel Elliott to a one-year deal.

Since Elliott departed from the Cowboys in the 2023 off-season, Dallas has struggled to move the ball on the ground, even with having the explosive Tony Pollard before losing him to the Titans in free agency.

Dallas didn’t draft a running back this year but instead opted to sign veteran running back Royce Freeman for a one-year deal.

Freeman played with the Los Angeles Rams last season and ran for 319 yards on 77 carries with two touchdowns.

The Cowboys have plenty of options in the backfield with Freeman, Elliott, Rico Dowdle, Malik Davis, and last year’s draft pick Duece Vaughn.

This year’s offseason has been up and down for Dallas as several key players, including one of their best offensive linemen, Tyron Smith, who played with the Cowboys for 13 years, signed with the New York Jets this offseason.

In the 2024 NFL draft, the Dallas Cowboys didn’t make the spectacular splash they always do but instead addressed some of the team’s needs quietly this year.

The Cowboys fulfilled several key needs, notably bolstering the tackle position by selecting Tyler Guyton, an offensive tackle from the University of Oklahoma.

The Cowboys traded their 24th-round draft pick to move back to the number 29 draft pick and picked Guyton.

Guyton helps address the need at tackle since Smith signed with the Jets.

Overall, the Cowboys addressed their most pressing need and landed the best available tackle at the end of the first round.

Dallas drafted two offensive tackles: an offensive guard, a wide receiver, a defensive tackle, a defensive end, a cornerback, and perhaps most pressing for the defense, a linebacker.
