First-Ever Chick-fil-A Restaurant Opens in DeSoto
DESOTO, Texas – The ceremonial ribbon has been cut and the first bite taken! On Tuesday, May 14, DeSoto Area Chamber of Commerce, along with Mayor Rachel Proctor, members of the City Council and other city officials, attended a privately held Ribbon Cutting ceremony for the new Chick-Fil-A here in DeSoto. Owners, James and Susie Pruitt, met each of us with the smiles and warm welcome that has become a hallmark of the company.
Founded in 1967 by Mr. S. Truett Cathy, Chick-fil-A has the distinction of being “the first restaurant to pair shopping and eating” when it opened a store in a mall in Atlanta. According to its website, they were the first “quick-service restaurant to introduce parent-friendly menus, with fruit cups and a grilled entrée”. Since that time, Chick-fil-A has gained notoriety as a family business with strong values that has long lines but excellent customer service.
We are so happy that Mr. Pruitt has chosen the City of DeSoto for his location and the DeSoto Area Chamber of Commerce as a business partner.
